Measuring Bra Size

By Elle Ashley Love

Many women overlook the importance of knowing their actual bra size and end up with badly suited undergarments. A bra which is too tight or loose can cause uneasiness and in some cases serious circulation problems and other issues. You have to know that bras are meant to be comfortable and fit you well. Another result of a poorly fitted bra is that it affects your posture and appearance, causing you to feel annoyed and distressed for the entire day. Let us take a look at some quick guides to measure your bra size.

The first thing you have to measure is your band size. This step has to be done accurately as it affects how the bra holds up. Have a flexible measuring tape wrapped around the perimeter of your chest, right below your bra (preferred that you wear it). If measurements give an odd number, round it off to the next even number. That will be your band size. However if it tells you an even number, you may either choose to stick to it or add another 2 inches to it. If you're still unsure, ask the sales lady for help.

Next you will obtain your cup size. Take measurements on the circumference of the highest point on your chest. Using this number, subtract the band size from it. The conversion table can help you find out what cup size are you. To simplify, every inch difference equates to an increase in your cup size. For example, if the difference is 1 inch, you require an A cup. If the difference is 2 inches, you need a B cup and so on.

Even if you pick up two bras that match your size, make sure you try them out first in the fitting room. You have to know that sizes vary across different models due to different materials used. But if you did it correctly, the sizes should not get too far off from your measurements. At the end of the day, you want to find one that suits you.

You only need to measure your bra size once a blue moon to upkeep your appearance for a long time. Now that understand how important your bra plays on the confidence level you feel for the day it's time to start choosing a comfortable bra.
