Tips to Recover From a Breast Lift Surgery

By Amy Nutt

Breast lift surgery, also known as Mastopexy, is a medical procedure that lifts and reshapes breasts that have lost their shape and firmness as the result of aging, pregnancy, or nursing. When one has a breast lift surgery, they have to take great care when recovering. There a number of measures one can take to help make the recovery period easier and quicker.

1. In most cases, the physician will instruct the patient to wear a "compression garment." These garments are available at many online medical device sites. They will assist with removing any harmful fluids from the body, reduce swelling, and improve blood circulation. They are normally worn for about 3 or 4 weeks after the breast uplift surgery.

2. Because breast lift surgery is a serious procedure, your body needs about 2-3 weeks of recovery before returning to regular daily activities such as work. To return to more vigorous activities such as exercise, one will normally require about 6 weeks of recovery. Avoid pushing, pulling, lifting, and any other demanding exercise until the surgeon says it is safe.

3. After surgery, patients should not sleep on their stomach. They should not have any added pressure on their chest.

4. Patients should take care when bathing as there are sutures that need to be maintained.

5. The most difficult part of a breast lift procedure is the first few days after the surgery. You will feel discomfort and some pain. It is important to relax and not move too often. There may also be some bruising and swelling, but this will fade. You should spend most of your time in bed. You will most likely have medication to take. Take it as directed by your surgeon.

6. It is important to keep track of any unusual changes. Contact the surgeon for such conditions as bleeding, increased bruising and swelling, or a discharge.

7. Do not wear an under-wire bra until the surgeon says it is safe to do so.

8. Sutures are normally removed within two weeks, but it takes several months for signs of the surgery to fade. Your surgeon may recommend prescription creams that can help reduce the signs of scars. If you have a susceptibility to developing irregular scarring, make sure you tell the surgeon to discuss your medical options.

9. There may be anesthesia-related problems such as nausea. The surgeon may want to prescribe something to help.

Breast lift Recovery will depend on the individual, so you have to be patient if recovery is taking a while. You will be stiff, sore, and certain areas of the breast may have little feeling for several weeks. You should be able to get up and walk around a day after the surgery. You should have someone with you during the most difficult part of recovery. Keep in contact with your surgeon during the entire recovery process.

Because recovering from a breast lift surgery takes time and patience, it is important that you engage in activities that will not inhibit the recovery process.

Measuring Bra Size

By Elle Ashley Love

Many women overlook the importance of knowing their actual bra size and end up with badly suited undergarments. A bra which is too tight or loose can cause uneasiness and in some cases serious circulation problems and other issues. You have to know that bras are meant to be comfortable and fit you well. Another result of a poorly fitted bra is that it affects your posture and appearance, causing you to feel annoyed and distressed for the entire day. Let us take a look at some quick guides to measure your bra size.

The first thing you have to measure is your band size. This step has to be done accurately as it affects how the bra holds up. Have a flexible measuring tape wrapped around the perimeter of your chest, right below your bra (preferred that you wear it). If measurements give an odd number, round it off to the next even number. That will be your band size. However if it tells you an even number, you may either choose to stick to it or add another 2 inches to it. If you're still unsure, ask the sales lady for help.

Next you will obtain your cup size. Take measurements on the circumference of the highest point on your chest. Using this number, subtract the band size from it. The conversion table can help you find out what cup size are you. To simplify, every inch difference equates to an increase in your cup size. For example, if the difference is 1 inch, you require an A cup. If the difference is 2 inches, you need a B cup and so on.

Even if you pick up two bras that match your size, make sure you try them out first in the fitting room. You have to know that sizes vary across different models due to different materials used. But if you did it correctly, the sizes should not get too far off from your measurements. At the end of the day, you want to find one that suits you.

You only need to measure your bra size once a blue moon to upkeep your appearance for a long time. Now that understand how important your bra plays on the confidence level you feel for the day it's time to start choosing a comfortable bra.

Should You Get Breast Implants?

By Michael Clarks

If youve heard the old adage of "I must I must, I must increase my bust, you would think of breast augmentation. Many years back this may have referred to arm exercises. Women would attempt exercises in hope of maintaining firm breasts but these exercises proved futile. Now there is a different option for when a woman is unhappy with the shape of her breasts.

Breast augmentation is sometimes done to rebuild the breast after a surgical procedure such as a mastectomy or in correction of congenital chest wall deformities. The state funded health care system in Britain (National Health Service) will fund this type of breast augmentation operation. Other reasons for breast augmentation are for cosmetic purposes. (This would not be considered fundable by the National Health Service.)

Most cases involve a procedure that works to firm up breasts after they have begun to slightly sag. This form of surgery is handled by private clinics specializing in the breast augmentation procedure.

A friends choice of particular size may look good. Some times, you are lured by magazines which exhibit persons who have undergone breast augmentation. But such hasty decisions many not augur well and result in dissatisfaction after the surgery. The concepts of all are not the same, needs to be remembered before going in for an implant. The friend of yours may have gone in for an implant which is suitable for her. Hence the same implant may look odd for you.

If a woman doesn't have a similar body structure than one of the stars or friends chosen, they cant get the same results. This is one of the reasons a woman should make a point to get a good consultation with an expert before undergoing breast augmentation surgery.

The surgeons during their consultations with you, weigh all factors like body type, height, and the size of your rib cage etc. before deciding the best implant for you. The decision of the size of the breast depends on the look you desire to have that is natural or voluptuous. The doctors try to simulate your looks with photos having the image of you with the desired size of breast which will make your mind decide the right size of breast.

The pictures of models or celebrities may be taken with you to show the surgeon the appearance you are looking for. As well as pictures which you think as a big breast and one which is a small one should be shown to the surgeon which will help him to get a mental picture of what you desire.

Many different materials have been used over the years in strives to improve the overall appearance of the breast. Ground rubber, polyethylene chips, terylene wool, and poly vinyl are just some examples. Breast augmentation continues to be a popular procedure for many women as interest has increased over the years.

Breast Augmentation - What Is It?

By Terry Colvert

Augmentation of the breast means to alter one or both breasts with the thought to change how they look or to improve how they look in one way or another.

As we all know it is commonly called as "boob-job". The clinical term for a breast implant is mammaplasty enlargement, augmentation mammaplasty.

There are many reasons that someone might consider the art of breast augmentation. Some, like reconstruction after a mastectomy are to return the breast to a natural form, while others may be to correct some sort of deformity, whether congenital or caused by non-natural means.

Implants are made of two common materials: 1)saline filled implants 2)silicon filled implants. Saline implants have a silicone rubber shell that is inflated to the desired size with sterile saline. There are two types of saline-filled implants. One type is a fixed volume implant, which is filled with the entire volume of saline at implantation. Another type is an adjustable volume implant, which is filled intraoperatively and has the potential for further postoperative adjustment.

People feel that silicone implants have a more natural look and feel than saline implants. But yet saline implants were more popular due to the restrictions on silicon implants in the US till 1990s. . Saline implants have a higher likelihood of rippling, which causes palpable and sometimes even visible "waves" along the sides of the breast. This is caused by the wrinkling or folding of the silicone shell of the implant.

The silicone implant was first implanted in 1961 by the Dow Corning Corporation. Since then 5 generations have been using this silicone implant. Today the fifth generation exhibits superior quality in terms of silicone migration, safety and good looks.

Before using a breast implant, care should be taken when deciding to use it. Full consultation with the woman concerned can be had with the breast augmentation specialists available throughout the country. The specialists can demonstrate the entire process before the woman so that all the doubts can be cleared. After understanding the complete procedure, women are able to use breast implant in a relaxed manner.

As discussed before, there are many different reasons and situations that would cause a woman to desire breast augmentation. It may be for improving the breasts look after surgery or just to make its size different because she wishes it to be so. The operation is open to women in either of these situations. Many women just want their breasts to be larger or to sag less. Trends show that some of these women tend to be those who have more disposable income and are better educated.

What is Breast Enlargement Surgery?

By Amy Nutt

Breast Enlargement Surgery, or Breast Augmentation, is a surgical procedure performed to increase the size of ones breasts using a medical implant. The implant is normally made of silicone with saline or a silicone gel filled in it. It is inserted into the breast through an incision underneath the breasts. Today, breast enhancement surgery is becoming a popular choice for many women.

Breast enlargement surgery is normally performed to increase the size of the breasts for fuller more shapely breasts, restore the size or shape of the breasts after significant weight loss or pregnancy, make the breasts more evenly proportioned, and to restore breast size after a mastectomy.

Saline solution is the substance most frequently used to fill breast implants because it can be safely absorbed by the body if the implant leaks or ruptures. An incision is made in the bottom crease of the breast or along the lower edge of the area surrounding the nipple. The implant is inserted through the incision and placed under the breast tissue. Once the implant has been adjusted to the correct shape and position, the incision is then closed with stitches. Some doctors believe that placing the implant beneath the chest muscle instead of under the breast will decrease the risk of acquiring a condition known as Capsular Contracture which is hardening of tissue surrounding the implant. As well, they say there is less of an obstruction when having a mammogram.

Breast enlargement surgery is normally performed as an outpatient procedure. The surgery can take from 1 to 2 hours. General anesthesia is usually used; however a local anesthesia or an epidural can be used in certain cases. After the surgery, gauze is taped over the stitches. The breasts are then wrapped and supported by a specially designed bra. The stitches can be removed in 10 to 14 days. The bandage must be kept dry for the entire period that it is worn.

There may be slight bruising, swelling, and soreness for a few days after the surgery. One can take medications to reduce the minimal discomfort. A supportive bra can help reduce swelling and support the breasts while they heal. Within a few days, most women can return to their normal daily routine. There is some scarring associated with the procedure, but this will normally fade after a few months.

If you are aged 18 or over, not pregnant, and in good health, you may be considered a good candidate for breast enlargement surgery. Most insurance will not cover the cost of breast implants for non medical reasons. However, they may possibly cover the cost as part of breast reconstruction after surgery for breast cancer. One should ask their insurance provider if there are certain exceptions where some funding can be provided for their breast enlargement surgery.

Most women who have breast enlargement surgery will require at least one more enlargement surgery during their lives. As well, most women who get breast implants are pleased with the results.

The Benefits of Face Lift Cosmetic Surgery

By Amy Nutt

Many people want a younger appearance and to feel better about themselves. They are not satisfied with the signs of aging on their face, so they are looking into the benefits of face lift cosmetic surgery. Understanding the benefits is important before any major surgery.

Here are some common questions about the procedure and the benefits of face lift plastic surgery: - What is a face lift? It is a surgical procedure that repairs sagging, drooping, and wrinkled skin of the face and neck.

- How is the procedure performed? While you are under sedation and anesthesia, your plastic surgeon will make incisions above your hairline at the temples, behind your earlobe, continuing to the lower scalp. Your surgeon will then remove some fat tissue and loose skin then stitches or sutures the incisions closed. The fat tissue removal is the lifting part of the face lift.

- What are the benefits of a face-lift? This procedure is designed to remove wrinkles therefore decreasing the physical signs of aging on the face. Properly performed, the procedure improves the contours of your face, giving you a more youthful look. The plastic surgery cannot stop the aging process; however it may offset some of its effects. Sun and wind damage, smoking and other environmental effects (such as pollution) can also appear diminished. A more intangible benefit may be a boost in your self-esteem. If you feel good about how you look, you feel better about yourself.

- What are the risks? As with any major surgery, there are risks. Surgery risks include blood loss and infection. Anesthesia risks include difficulty breathing and allergic reactions to medications administered. Other risks include a hematoma or a pocket of blood under the skin that will need to be drained and temporary damage of the nerves that control facial muscles.

- What can I expect after surgery? Immediately after surgery, your head will be bandaged loosely. To keep swelling to a minimum, your head will be raised by pillows. At about 10-14 days after surgery, you will be experiencing some swelling, bruising, tenderness and perhaps numbness. Skin discoloration may also occur. Most of your surgical scars will be hidden along your hairline or will follow the natural lines of your face. These will fade over time. It will be recommended that you limit your sun exposure after your surgery. You should see a full recovery in about 4-6 weeks after surgery.

- What is the typical cost of plastic surgery? The cost ranges from $5000-$7000. This cost does not include the fees for the hospital or surgical facility, the anesthesiologist, any prescriptions or tests that may be needed.

When making your decision about any cosmetic surgery, you must weigh the benefits along with the risks. There are no guarantees to the outcome, however as medical knowledge and training continually advances. The benefits of cosmetic surgery procedure seem to outweigh the risks. If this sounds like a treatment that will make you happier and feel better about yourself, take this opportunity to greet the new you.

Benefits Of Liposuction Surgery

By Randolph Morris

Being over weight is perhaps the most common problem today, and people across the world are constantly searching for successful and safe weight loss methods. Liposuction is one of the techniques that can be used for taking out excess fat from particular parts of the body through a surgical procedure.

In this method, extra fat from particular areas of the body is sucked out by inserting a suction instrument called cannula after making a small cut in the body. There are a number of benefits of Liposuction which are not found in other techniques of losing weight.

Liposuction helps you to lose several pounds within hours. Almost all other weight loss methods like dieting or following a rigorous workout regime require a lot of strenuous effort for months, and it is tough to maintain your motivation for such a long period. Whereas, lipo helps you to free yourself from excess fat in no time and it is easy to maintain your shape after the surgery by simply adhering to a healthy way of life.

Other conventional practices like dieting can result in a lot of complications and create serious health risks. This is not what happens with liposuction, which is a safe technique and does not have any significant side effects. Even if there are minor surgical scars on the body, they are not long lasting and they disappear in a short time.

Liposuction is very effective in removing fat from some areas of the body like the thighs and chin from which removing fat is tough through other methods. In fact, there is no area on the body on which liposuction does not guarantee a substantial reduction of fat.

Although there are several attractive advantages of lipo, you should always keep in mind that it is still surgery. It is better that before you decide on whether to go for the surgery, you take advice from a competent doctor and ensure that the process won't have any adverse effects on your body. You should also keep in mind that you might require a small recovery time after the surgery.

Different Alternatives For Breast Enhancement

By Elllen Spencer

A lot of women over the ages have looked for methods for breast enhancement, so that they can feel more beautiful and become confident about their appearance. Today there are several ways available which can be used to enhance breast size. Almost all these methods are safe and offer good results.

Intake of special medicines is a well known breast enhancement method. These pills are made of herbal products, which are effective in increasing the size of the breasts. The medicines are generally safe to use and do not produce any kind of side effects on your health. Still, it is advisable to be cautious while buying such pills or products, and if they bear a warning note stating any potential side effects, do read it before buying the pill.

Another well known way of breast enhancement is making use of creams. These creams have ingredients quite similar to those of pills, however, they are considered to be better than pills as they require the breasts to be massaged while smearing and applying them, which helps in breast enhancement. To facilitate better massaging, the cream should have a fine lubricating characteristic.

Surgery is yet another breast enhancement method, which is becoming more and more well known, particular among women in the show business. This method uses an implant, which is placed into the breasts by making surgical incisions. The effect of this procedure on the breast size is quite prominent. But you must not forget that the choice to go for any kind of surgery should be made carefully. There is always a danger of side effects, and it might need a considerable time for complete recovery. In addition, such surgical procedures can be very costly for a middle class woman.

Many people claim that what you eat can also have a significant effect on the shape and size of your breasts. The suggested diet includes green vegetables and milk, along with other nutritious items. Besides, following a healthy lifestyle, where you work out regularly and get sufficient sleep can also remove hindrances to breast enhancement.

Eastern Hemlock Mushroom Saturated with Antioxidants

By Dr. Markho Rafael

A 1999 research paper reported Hemlock Varnish Shelf (Ganoderma tsugae) to have "the strongest antioxidant activity of five species of Ganoderma [Reishi] tested," a more potent free radical scavenger than Vitamin E. [831] Other published papers have also reported extraordinary antioxidant levels in Hemlock Varnish Shelf. [827, 828, 829, 830]

The fungus Hemlock Varnish Shelf (Ganoderma tsugae) is common on Eastern Hemlock trees (Tsuga canadensis) throughout the Appalachian mountain range. It is the local variety of Reishi (Ganoderma spp.) in the eastern United States.

Much of the therapeutic benefits are the same as those of the Common Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), which is the oldest used medicinal mushroom in Traditional Chinese Medicine with a 2,000 year history.

Hemlock Varnish Shelf is not limited to the U.S., though, and plenty of Asian research has been conducted specifically on this species of Reishi.

The primary Asian source of Hemlock Varnish Shelf is commercially grown specimens from Taiwan that are exported to mainland China as medicinal mushrooms. The traditional use of Ganoderma tsugae in Chinese medicine is for the treatment of autoimmune conditions, asthma and other conditions involving inflammation.

As far as modern research goes, a 2001 study reported "improved the survival rate of lupus" [800] when patients were given Ganoderma tsugae extract in addition to the conventional treatment.

In cases of asthma or lung inflammation, there have been three studies confirming the effectiveness of Hemlock Varnish Shelf. It's been found to "exert anti-inflammatory effects on airway responses" [801] in cases of allergic asthma and broncheoalveolar inflammation. [802, 803]

A unique and increasingly popular use of Hemlock Varnish Shelf is as a form of skin substitute to aid in wound healing. Sold under the name of Sacchachitin, this Ganoderma tsugae-derived skin substitute has been shown in many studies to help speed up skin healing. It's been reported that "rapid wound healing" occurs when the injured area is covered by Sacchachitin as compared to gauze. [804] A "wound area covered by SACCHACHITIN completely healed by 21 days, while that covered with cotton gauze did not," states one paper. [805, 806, 807]

Hemlock Varnish Shelf extract has also been tested for its antitumor properties with promising results. [808, 809, 810, 811, 812] In particular lung cancer [813, 814, 815] and breast cancer [816] have responded favorably in scientific research. It was also shown in one study to help prevent cancer metastasis. [817]

As with the Common Reishi, Hemlock Varnish Shelf extract appears to be immunomodulatory [817, 818, 819, 820, 821, 822, 823] - meaning that it will adjust the immune system up or down depending on what is needed. It helps strengthen a weak immune system, [824] but will calm an over-active immune system in cases of inflammation [825] or autoimmune conditions.

Finally, a paper published in 2004 reported that Hemlock Varnish Shelf also possessed anti-fibrotic as well as liver protective properties. [826]

Note: The statements on this page have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This article is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Always consult a licensed medical practitioner before using any herb (or mushroom) for medicinal purposes.

Ways to Approach Losing Man Boobs

By Ryan Lawton

I have tried almost everything and spent countless dollars in an attempt to lose my man boobs and gets my self-esteem back, including many types of diets, drugs, exercises, anything except resorting surgery. Whatever the cost, I would consider it if it can help me to get rid of my man boobs I have been suffering with for years.

I've spent much of my extra time studying exercise, muscle building and food, and despite all of my efforts I was unable to find much up to date information on the area of man boob reduction. True sufferers of of this problem are are quite small in number. The majority of the physical fitness experts I have read about never had to deal with man boobs in their total lifetime.

As I've already gone through the drawn-out and difficult process of eliminating my man boobs, I can safely say that losing them is not as simple as following a standard fat-loss diet and exercise regime, but that isn't to say that diet and exercise aren't critical to success. Most men afflicted by man boobs have lost out on a significant part of the element, and that is hormonal proportion.

A lower testosterone level in the body is one of the important contributing factors to the affliction of man boobs. This can make you more feminine which causes your body to deposit more fat on your chest.

As I mentioned previously, diet is one of the vital areas to look at to being able to be rid of man boobs, but it concerns much more than just watching what you consume. You should formulate your meal plan around alkalizing your body and increasing your metabolism.

The next important technique is physical exercise. A good workout plan should put more importance on testosterone boosting exercises, for example the weighted squat which can easily accomplish this intent. Do not rush, however, to your local gym right away and start pumping out thousands of squats, which can actually decrease your testosterone levels.

Having man boobs have caused me a lot of grief in this world. Even when I take my shirt off in a public mens changing room, people will stare at me, although not deliberately so I realize your problem. Today, thanks to the amount of information available on the internet, this is one matter that still hasn't really been explored and there are only a few great products on the market designed for getting rid of those man boobs.

The Relationship Between Estrogen And Breast Cancer

By Rita Goldman

For many years women were told that Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) offered as Estrogen Therapy (ET) or a combination of Estrogen and Progesterone (Hormone Therapy or HT) was the easy way to avoid any symptoms of the menopause. Women were given either natural or synthetic hormones to reduce hot flashes, headaches, moodiness, insomnia, and vaginal dryness.

Unfortunately doctors are beginning to realize that women have a unique hormone profile. That means that the effect of hormone replacement therapy could work for your neighbor, but have no effect on you.

Recent medical researches have indicated that there is a link between HRT and breast cancer risk. Both natural and synthetic Estrogen and Progesterone can cause acceleration in the growth of breast tissue, and breast cancer can first appear in fast growing tissue.

Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to isolate one cause of cancer and blame it on one specific thing because hereditary, diet and lifestyle all play a part. At this point there may be a link between hormone replacement therapy and cancer but many more medical studies need to be conducted to ascertain exactly how that link works. At this time doctors think that there is a definite increased risk of breast cancer when ET and HT are used beyond five years, but other doctors feel that the risk is there period.

If you are a breast cancer survivor, then it may be possible that HRT can stimulate the growth of small tumors, or hidden cells called micrometastases. But today doctors are erring on the side of caution and making a recommendation that women with a cancer risk avoid HRT. Other risk factors are women that experience the menopause later in life.

However, there are a number of women who are comfortable with the risks and want to take HRT anyway. A close relationship with your doctor is important and a journal which can pinpoint exactly what is happening is a good idea. There is an evidence that a diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables will regulate the levels of estrogens in your system naturally. Macronutrients are not going to do any harm and there is a strong argument that they can ward off a cancer risk in their own right as well as regulating hormones. Another benefit is adequate exercise which does not mean going to a gym. A brisk walk that elevates the heart rate slightly for half an hour is just as beneficial as a gym membership. It is cardiovascular exercise and it reduces the risk of obesity, because the link between obesity and cancer is certainly there.

The Most Famous Breast Surgery in the World

By Amy Nutt

Increasing one's breast size has become a popular procedure for millions of women. Many women increase the size of their breasts because they feel their breasts are too small or they want fuller or firmer breasts. The purpose of the surgery is to have breasts that are attractive in shape.

Made popular by celebrities, the most famous of all breast procedures is breast augmentation. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, -breast augmentation is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States.' According to statistics collected by the American Society of Plastic Surgery, In 2007, 347,254 breast augmentation procedures were performed in the U.S.'

Often referred to as breast augmentation, breast enlargement, breast implants, mammoplasty enlargement, or augmentation mammoplasty, a breast implant is a device used to change the size and shape of a woman's breasts. Reasons for breast augmentation include: reconstruction of the breast after a surgery such as a mastectomy, improve one's physical appearance, or as part of male-to-female sex reassignment surgery.

Breasts are enlarged using saline or silicone implants. Saline implants have a silicone elastomer shell filled with sterile saline solution. Silicone gel implants have a silicone shell filled with a silicone gel. Breasts surgeons perform the breast augmentation procedure through a small incision on the underside of the breast. Saline implants are safer than silicone implants. The surgery involves implanting a silicone shell filled with saline water into the breast. It is often chosen because saline water is not harmful to the human body. Saline implants are the most commonly used implants.

The cost of having breast implant surgery can range anywhere from $5,000-$7,000. Prices will normally depend on where you are located and the number of breast implant surgeons there are in your area. Breast implants do not last forever. Most women will probably require supplementary surgeries over their lifetime. Understanding A Number Of Your Plastic Surgery Options

By Dawn Enstruthe

The popularity of cosmetic surgery has increased many times in recent years. However if you have to consider the after effects of surgery; such as the recovery period or the scars. Keeping the scars and pain to a minimum are an important factor for anyone having it done. It does depend on the severity and area where the surgery has been performed. However before indulging in such corrective surgeries, you will need to undergo a complete health check up.

The most appealing factor about cosmetic surgery is that it can be performed on delicate places like the eyes, nose, and face where the fear of scars being clearly visible is more. Since natural lines already exist here, the scar of the surgery is less noticeable. Loose skin and wrinkles are smoothened out with laser resurfacing technique. A good option to cosmetic surgery is the Botox injections, but the effect is limited and may need to be repeated again.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that is generally performed on the tummy, thighs (both inner and outer), knee, or hip region and is especially done by women. For men, liposuction may be performed on the chest wall and belly. It is essential that you critically asses your body before opting for any cosmetic surgery and not just the liposuction to gain the maximum benefit from reshaping or simply just improving.

Some women opt for the tummy tuck surgery after childbirth to get rid of the excess fat and skin that the baby has so gratefully made use of for the past nine months. In this type of surgery, an incision is made from one side of the pelvic bone to the other and after removing the extra skin and fat, the muscles are tightened. A widely evident scar may result from this surgery but can be easily hidden under proper clothing.

Another major cosmetic surgery performed is the body lift surgery. When performing this surgery, the patient is under general anesthesia. In this surgery, sagging skin from different parts of the body such as the hips, upper thighs and tummy area is removed and the private parts are also elevated to a certain extent to impart a more youthful look.

It is also important that you get cosmetic surgery performed only from reputed and experienced surgeons, to avoid any untoward incident. The surgeon will first asses your other physical aspects and performs the surgery only if all your other vital signs are in perfect order.

Cosmetic surgery of any kind is also quite expensive, and is therefore important to critically evaluate the necessity of such a surgery. You should also be aware that such surgery may bring in favorable as well as drastic changes in your life but does not change life for you entirely.

Choosing Between Soy Protein and Milk Whey Protein

By Sean Julian

There are numerous health benefits of having soy protein everyday. It prevents you from heart disease, osteoporosis, kidney ailments, and several types of cancer. If you believe the scientific studies done in recent past, soy protein also helps in preventing the development of breast cancer. Soya beans provide you complete nutrition as they contain all eight essential amino acids and almost no saturated fat or cholesterol. Soy offers you more protein than milk, and is a rich source of fiber. As a result, you feel full and have fewer cravings.

With the current emphasis on heart health and getting in shape, many people are buying gym memberships, working out, and buying nutritional supplements to aid in overall nutrition. Also the constant remainders flung out at us from every source of media, magazines, television, the Internet, are all the resources and products available to help us remain forever young. One of the increasingly popular products is protein powder.

Soy protein comes from plants. It can be used by people who are allergic to milk products or who are lactose intolerant. One of the properties of soy protein is that it increases the nutritional value of other foods that you are eating. Including soy protein as part of your diet will help to reduce your risk of heart disease. Since 1999, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has allowed food producers to include this information on their packaging. This helpful information will help you make good choices when it comes to your diet.

If you are trying to lose weight yet you do not want to completely close yourself off of the foods that you love the most, you may want to consider soy protein as a suitable alternative. Soy is something that has many uses today, and you can find soy in just about any form that can represent a food that is fattening. Many cultures have jumped on the health plan when it comes to soy and its benefits, and it has been only recently that North America has found its true benefits.

Almost all of the food processed in the US contains soy and/or soy protein. Soy protein (concentrated soy) is used to extend meat, emulsify food, and as a thickener. These uses have transformed the food industry. Food that never contained soy protein -- smoothies, ice cream, frozen potatoes, and baked goods -- may contain it now.

Regular Exercise After 30 Curbs Risk of Breast Cancer

By Kirsten Whittaker

Just out of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recent 56th annual meeting. If you are over 30 years old, exercising an hour a week may cut your risk of breast cancer, which is the most common cancer among U.S. women.

192,370 women will be diagnosed with this form of cancer in 2009.

The good news is that mortality rate from this type of cancer are headed in the right direction - Down.

While this is welcome news, far too many women still have to face this potentially disfiguring, often dangerous and always worrisome condition.

This was the motivation behind the work presented at the recent ACSM meeting, a rather comprehensive look at the activity levels (among other things) of a large group of women.

The team questioned 4,296 women about their activity levels during four key stages of life; 10 to 15 years, 15 - 30 years, 30 - 50 years, and over 50 years.

The participants completed an extensive survey that included questions on ethnicity, education, menstrual and pregnancy history, use of oral contraceptives and female hormones, breast health screening practices, family history of cancers, smoking history, diet, alcohol intake, stress levels as well as the amount of weekly exercise.

"An average amount of exercise was defined as 60 minutes per week," explains lead researcher Lisa Sprod from the School of Sport and Exercise Science at the University, "so anyone exercising less than 60 minutes was below average, above 60 minutes was above average, and anyone that considered themselves highly competitive' chose that category."

The researchers identified that breast cancer risks didn't have a relationship to the amounts of exercise under 30 years; but once a subject was over 30 her risks of developing breast cancer were lowered if she was active.

Those who were the most active between 30 to 50 years old developed breast cancer less frequently than those who were less active during that same time period.

This reduced risk held even as the women passed their fiftieth birthday, all it took was one hour of activity per week for them to be less likely to develop breast cancer than those who weren't being active.

"Regular exercise appears to have protective effects for this age group of women," continues student researcher Sprod. "Meeting physical activity recommendations can act like a prescription for prevention when it comes to breast cancer."

This research supports established data that links activity and breast cancer risk, especially as it relates to a constant level of activity maintained over a lifetime.

Exercise is known to help regulate hormone levels, current weight and weight gain with age, as well as the immune system.

If all this makes you want to get more active, talk with your own family doctor to ask him or her about how to start.

To start off, slow, steady progress is what you're after. 10 minutes a day for the first few weeks is a solid start. Once you're able to do this much, slowly increase the length and then the intensity of your workout.

This way you will avoid injury, build your endurance, and attack (and achieve) those fitness goals.

Also, your added fitness could well give you greater protection against breast cancer.

Any eyelid surgery is performed to correct drooping eyelids or remove extra fat from under the eyes. This cosmetic surgery involves a cut in the upper eyelid which is done along the lines of the natural skin fold that extends up to the corner of the eyes to the crow's feet.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that is generally performed on the tummy, thighs (both inner and outer), knee, or hip region and is especially done by women. Are You Brave Enough To Face Cancer And Lifestyle Changes?

By Rita Goldman

One of the reasons that the number of cancer suffers has grow is the fact that many more people undergo routine screening and early detection has increased the number of sufferers. Health care workers estimate that the USA has ten million cancer sufferers, which represents a figure between 3 and 4 percent of the population. However it is expected that in the next ten years the proportion will increase as more people are getting older and more people survive cancer.

However, it does not alter the fact that cancer survivors have a higher risk for developing serious conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis as well as secondary cancers. As a general rule, physical exercise, eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and reducing a fat and sugar intake will offer significant protection against most serious conditions. Interestingly recent research has indicated that increasing the amount of exercise reduce the risk of secondary breast cancers.

Yet the fact is that most cancer patients do not significantly alter their lifestyle after being cured. Most of the breast cancer risk factors described is related to a womans exposure to estrogen including early menstruation, late menopause which increases the total amount of monthly cycles. Risks are reduced when a woman has an early first birth and an early menopause. The relationship of body fatness to breast cancer risk is ambiguous; it is probable that post menopausal breast cancer has a direct link with both weight gain especially abdominal weight gain and also a lack of physical activity. There is a suggestion that there is an increased risk of breast cancer for women who smoke in early adolescence.

In 2005 by Holmes MD, Chen WY, Feskanich D, Kroenke CH, Colditz GA studied 2987 women diagnosed with stage I, II or III breast cancer they found that an increase in physical activities reduced the amount of deaths from cancer. The most improvement was found in those women that walked for between three and five hours a week. The research indicated that the combination of consuming at least 5 servings of fresh vegetables or fruits and increasing their physical activity to at least half an hour a day for 6 days a week increased the number of women who survived estrogen positive receptor tumors. However other studies have not reported a difference.

In women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer, studies have shown a positive link between treatment failure and high intakes of fat both saturated fat and polyunsaturated fat. The fresh start trial studied newly diagnosed breast and prostate cancer patients and it found that directly mailing patients to encourage a healthy lifestyle including eating less fat, more fruit and vegetables than other conventional methods. Although this is in tune with psychological cognitive behavioural patterns it needs more research to observe results (Demark-Wahnefried W, Clipp EC, Lipkus IM et al (2007).
