How To Choose The Right Size Of Implants

By Jamie Anderson

You may want to get your breasts surgically augmented to improve your figure, enhance your image and achieve that perfect chest measurement. When you initially approach a plastic surgeon you should discuss your expectations with them so that you are both on the same platform.

They will be able to guide you on what you can realistically expect after a breast implant surgery. Most surgeons will not actually tell you the exact size that you will get after the surgery. They will however focus on achieving a look based on a picture or a computer generated image. If you have a particular size of breasts in mind, carry a picture along to help in the discussion.

To select the right size for yourself, first learn about the correct size of your breasts at present. Either a bra fitting session or a measurement at the plastic surgeon's office will indicate the existing size.

Take a picture of your existing proportions to the plastic surgeon who can superimpose the proposed size over the existing size and give you an idea of what you will be likely to look like. Some surgeons are equipped with software programs that can virtually show you what your figure will look like post surgery.

You can try on false implants that you can insert into your bra and assess how you would look after the actual breast implant surgery.

If you want to enhance your cup size by two or three times, the skin around the breasts will be susceptible to stretch marks. These stretch marks will not go away on their own so you will need to get them erased through laser treatment. These laser treatments are usually carried out during the recovery stage. If you want to avoid stretch marks, try going in for a size that is just one cup size or half a cup size larger than your present size.

Once you have settled on a size be means of a software program or on the basis of false implants, consult a close family member or friend to get their opinion. They will help you decide if your expectations from the surgery are realistic and whether the augmented size will really suit your figure and improve your look.

Finally, make sure you get a good plastic surgeon for the procedure. They should be willing to advise you on various options as well as guide on safety precautions.
