Don't be afraid to accept the help of friends and family and if you have questions or worries, always ask one of your medical care team to explain things to you.

Telling friends, family and work colleagues

Telling someone that you have cancer is a very difficult thing to do. Many people are shocked and find it difficult to know what to say. Give them time and whatever you do, don't feel guilty for how they feel about it. Accept that some friends may find it so difficult to deal with that they may begin avoid you. This is their problem and not yours. Don't waste time worrying over their friendship because the people who do stick around are your true friends. If it's easier then ask a close friend or family member to let everyone else know. They can also act as an information point because people will want to know how you are at various stages of your treatment.

Understanding your treatment plan

You will be given a team of doctors that will include surgeons, oncologists, specialist breast care nurses and radiographers. These are your team, they are experienced and have seen and dealt with many cases like yours. Remember, they're used to questions so don't be afraid to ask them anything you need to know. If you have any questions about your treatment plan then your breast care nurse is your first point of information. If she doesn't know the answer to your question, she'll find out for you.

Going in to hospital

For many people having surgery for breast cancer this will be their first visit to hospital. You'll be given all the information you need before being admitted and again you can ask your breast care nurse if you have any concerns. Take pyjamas that you feel comfortable in for after your surgery but remember you will need to be able to remove them easily for the staff to check your wounds so often button up pyjama tops are best. You might want to take some squash with you to add to the water that you're encourage to drink and take some magazine or light reading for when you're feeling a bit better after your surgery. Most wards have a contact number for relatives and friends which you can give to your family and friends should they wish to contact you.

After surgery

After coming home from hospital you will need to take things easy for a little while. Make sure that you have help at home and that you don't do any lifting or strenuous housework. You're body will tell you when you're ready to start doing light chores around the house. When people offer to do things to help you they really mean it so don't be afraid to let them. It often makes them feel better to be able to help.

Diet and Exercise

When you're starting to feel better then gentle exercise such as walking will aid in your recovery and make you feel better. Don't do anything too strenuous. Now is not the time to be worrying about losing weight or keeping fit. The main priority now is to look after you and to get well.

Future fears

There will come a time when your main treatment has been carried out and your cancer care team don't need to see you quite so often. For some people this can feel a little daunting because you've become so used to having regular checks and because you may have fears that your cancer will return. Again, talk to your breast care nurse. She will be able to tell you what to look out for and hopefully allay your fears.

About the Author:

Want to find out more about tongue cancer, then visit our site on how to choose the best cancer stages for your needs.

Breast Cancer Symptom

By Katherina Dearmitt

Because hypertension is a silent disease you may feel fine but be a walking time-bomb. Most people don't even there are many different forms of breast cancer. Some spread rapidly and are unpredictable, while others grow slowly and may go undetected for years. While the most common symptom of breast cancer is a lump or nodule within the breast, there are several other symptoms that may also indicate its presence.

Lumps that appear in the breasts prior to menstruation and disappear or reduce in size after the cycle, are not worrisome. These types of lumps are referred to as fibrocystic change and are thought to be caused by hormonal changes within the body. If lumps continue to grow in size and do not disappear after the menstrual cycle, you should consult with a physician.

Localized pain may occur in one or both breasts at various times throughout a woman's life. It is rarely a symptom of breast cancer; but new and persistent discomfort in only one breast may be a sign of breast cancer. If breast pain continues for more than one week, contact your doctor.

Occasionally, women will experience a slight discharge of clear liquid from the nipples of both breasts. This generally occurs due to a hormone imbalance and will dissipate within 24 to 48 hours. However, if nipple discharge occurs in only one breast and has any signs of blood, it may be cause for concern.

Skin rashes can occur on the breasts due to chemical irritants such as laundry detergent or underarm deodorant. However, if a skin rash appears on the breast that resembles eczema, or if dry scales appear around the nipples, this could be a sign of Paget's disease.

Symptoms of Paget's disease include itching, redness, and soreness of the nipple. Paget's disease always signals the presence of primary ductal carcinoma elsewhere in the breast tissue. Primal ductal carcinoma is the most common type of breast cancer.

Swelling of the breasts can occur prior to the menstrual cycle or during pregnancy. If swelling is accompanied by redness or warmth, it may be a sign of Inflammatory Breast Cancer. IBC is a rare, but aggressive form of breast cancer that can be fatal if not treated promptly.

Other symptoms of Inflammatory Breast Cancer may include a pitting of the skin surrounding the breast. This pitted appearance resembles the texture of an orange and is called peau d' orange. Pitting of the breast is caused by a buildup of fluid, which causes edema (swelling) in the breast.

The most common breast cancer symptoms include:
- A lump or thickening of the breast.
- A change in the size or shape of a breast.
- A change in the size or shape of a nipple.
- A bloody discharge from a nipple.
- A rash on the skin around the nipple or on the breast.
- Pitting or dimpling of the skin.
- Swelling or lumps in the armpit.

If you experience any of these symptoms, consult with your physician. Chances are good that these signs are not breast cancer. However, if breast cancer is diagnosed, your chances for recovery improve significantly through early detection.

About the Author:

Learn more about proton therapy for prostate cancer. Most women experience night sweats, fatigue, and hot flashes.

However there is new research that suggests that acupuncture may be more effective than antidepressants at helping to ease some of these side effects. This study compared the effectiveness of drug therapy to acupuncture. It was determined that acupuncture was just as effective as drug therapy while having no side effects.

The study also showed that the effects of the acupuncture lasted longer. The acupuncture patients didn't begin having symptoms until about 15 weeks after stooping treatment while it only took about two weeks after stopping drug therapy for the symptoms to return in those women.

In this study, acupuncture was compared to the use of the antidepressants in women who had breast cancer. Each woman was assigned randomly to receive a twelve week course of acupuncture or the antidepressants. Immediately before the beginning of study, those women participating in the study reported having a minimum of fourteen hot flashes per week.

At the conclusion of the study intervention, both groups reported similar improvements in menopausal symptoms including hot flashes. However, while many women who were in the antidepressant group experienced trouble shooting, constipation, headache, dry mouth, nausea, and other side effects, the group who had the acupuncture experienced none of these side effects.

Through this study it has also been determined that the practice of acupuncture can potentially increase a woman's sex drive while improving her sense of well being and help reduce hot flashes in breast cancer patients.

The study, which has been published in The Journal of Oncology, suggests that when compared to traditional drug therapy, acupuncture is more effective in reducing night sweats and hot flashes for women who are receiving hormone therapy for breast cancer treatment.

Acupuncture, when performed by a licensed acupuncturist, offers the patients a durable, effective, and safe treatment option for hot flashes, which is something that affects the majority of breast cancer survivors. Acupuncture actually has benefits when compared to drug therapy which have more side effects. Patients also reported that acupuncture increased their energy and improved their thought clarity.

While acupuncture has very few side effects, it is important to seek out a fully trained licensed acupuncturist rather than going to a medical doctor or chiropractor with a few hours training in acupuncture calling themselves "medical acupuncturist".

About the Author:

Looking to find the best deal on breast cancer treatment options, then visit www.cancer-prostate77.com to find the best advice on prostrate cancer treatment for you.

Cosmetic Surgery Is Becoming More Popular Everyday

By Enrique Castillano

We live in a world where everyone is concerned with their looks and aging is a thing of the past. Men and women strive to get better bodies, fewer wrinkles and generally look better than they already do. Cosmetic surgery is a way to reduce the signs of aging and to perfect any flaws you feel your body may have.

This specialty area, also known as Plastic Surgery is mostly known for vanity reasons and aesthetic purposes. Many people do not realize that plastic surgery also includes reconstructive surgery, hand surgery and burns. Although most forms of cosmetic or plastic surgery are done under full anesthetic there are a few smaller procedures which can be done with local unaesthetic and in the doctors chair.

If you want to you can pretty much change anything about yourself. The most common surgeries however are breast lifts, reductions and enlargements, nose jobs, liposuction, Chin and cheek implants, eyelid surgery, face lifts and tummy tucks.

Another trend which is on the rise is the Brazilian Butt Lift which uses fat grafting or silicon implants to lift the buttocks and gives a more shapely behind.

Chemical peels reduce the appearance of acne scarring, chicken pox scars and wrinkles; this is one procedure which can be done as an outpatient procedure during your lunch hour. Other common surgeries which can be done with a small amount of local anesthetic are, Lip enhancement surgery, and laser skin resurfacing.

If you are considering a cosmetic procedure make sure that you consult with medical professionals who are renowned in their trade and come with personal references. Be certain that this is something that you want to embark on. Cosmetic surgery is not cheap and could put a serious strain on your wallet so it is something that should take careful consideration.

About the Author:

Enrique Castillano also writes about Cosmetic Surgery for Spanish Language websites including Cirugia Estetica and Depilacion Laser

How To Find The Right Natural Breast Enhancement

By Devin Zuberg

For women, there are a lot of ways to enhance their breasts but when surgery is a scary option, Natural breast enhancementmight be the best avenue. Clark

Women everywhere are at a sexual advantage if they have large, firm breasts. In an attempt to satisfy the average woman's desire to have larger, more voluptuous looking breasts, science and technology produced breast implants. However, millions of women, however much as they want to enlarge their breasts, do not want anybody cutting into their bodies and inserting these devices. Looking for a safer alternative, many of these women have turned to Natural breast enhancement for the solution to their problem.

For centuries before medical science confirmed that they worked, women have been using natural, herbaceous pills, potions and lotions to enlarge and enhance their breasts. Ancient records prove that two herbs, fennel and fenugreek, have been used as effective folk remedies for centuries. These two ingredients are found in many of the best herbal breast augmentation products on the market today.

Both of these natural herbs have a proven estrogen-like effect on the body. Estrogen has two effects on the breasts of women (and men, in rare cases). First it increases fluid retention in the breasts. Secondly, it has the effect of swelling breast tissue. These are not theories, they are facts. It is a fact that a properly formulated natural breast enhancement pill can result in larger, firmer breasts.

If this is the case, then why aren't more women using these products. Millions of women are, but others have been scared off by some of the warnings issued by segments of the medical establishment. These warnings are interesting, because all they are saying is that these natural ingredients have not been proven to be safe. Why don't they issue similar warnings about breast implants? Those have certainly been proven to be unsafe. These natural products have shown no indication of being unsafe. Is the medical establishment biased?

While it is true that more research should be done on the effects of these herbaceous products, it is also true that aside from a dearth of long term clinical trials, there is the evidence of the centuries that women have enjoyed watching their breasts grow in size and firmness using formulas with natural ingredients without suffering any undue side effects whatsoever. In fact, many of the best products on the market also include ingredients that ease menstrual cramps and that is something that any woman would welcome!

When it comes right down to it, women everywhere feel more feminine and confident if they have large, alluring breasts. Natural breast enhancers can help them achieve this goal and there is no evidence whatsoever to prove that they are dangerous or ineffective. Therefore, there should be no reason not to use them.

A final word of caution. Not all of these products are equally effective. Do your homework and choose one that has a record of satisfied customers.

About the Author:

Looking to find the definititve source of information on Natural breast enhancement?

What Now After Mastectomy?... Know Your Breast Reconstruction Options

By Dr Chrysopoulo

Breast reconstruction is not a cosmetic procedure. It's a right every woman has when faced with mastectomy after breast cancer. Fortunately, there are several reconstructive options.

When the breast reconstruction is performed at the same setting as the mastectomy it is referred to as "immediate" reconstruction. The biggest advantage of immediate reconstruction is that the patient wakes up from the surgery still "whole" and completely avoids having to live without a breast. Other advantages include shorter scars and, generally speaking, a better cosmetic result.

Some patients do not have access to a reconstructive surgeon at the time of the mastectomy. Other patients are advised to avoid immediate reconstruction because radiation therapy is likely after the mastectomy. In these cases, the reconstruction can be performed some time after the mastectomy. This is known as "delayed reconstruction".

Tissue expander reconstruction is the most common method of breast reconstruction in the United States. Most plastic surgeons perform this as a two-stage procedure. The expander is used to stretch the skin envelope and create the size of breast the patient and plastic surgeon desire. The expander is replaced by a permanent breast implant (saline or silicone) at a separate procedure some time later. Some patients are candidates for one-step implant reconstruction (without expanders): a permanent breast implant is inserted immediately without going through the whole expansion process. In the one-step implant reconstruction the implant is completely covered by the pectoralis muscle and an acellular dermal graft (like Alloderm or FlexHD). These grafts are cadaveric tissue implants that provide support and increase the amount of padding over the implant.

Implant reconstruction is completely different to cosmetic breast augmentation with implants. Since there is a lot less tissue padding over the implant (it is removed by the mastectomy), the risk of developing implant-related problems like hardening is much higher in mastectomy patients. Implant reconstructions generally speaking also do not do as well as tissue reconstructions in the setting of radiation.

The Latissimus flap is one of the most common tissue reconstructions performed in this country. It uses the skin, fat and muscle (latissimus dorsi muscle) from the mid-back. This tissue is tunneled under the armpit skin and onto the chest to recreate the breast mound. Some women will also require an implant under this tissue for additional breast volume. The loss of function from moving the latissimus muscle is generally very well tolerated in all but the most active women.

TRAM flap surgery is a common procedure that uses skin, fat and varying amounts of the sit-up muscle (rectus abdominis) from the lower abdomen. The tissue (or flap) is then relocated to the chest to create the new breast. This procedure also results in a tightening of the lower abdomen, or a "tummy tuck". Unfortunately, sacrifice of all or part of the abdominal muscle can result in bulging (or "pooching") of the abdomen and even a hernia.

Over the last decade or so, the TRAM has been replaced by the DIEP flap as the new breast reconstruction gold standard. The DIEP provides a natural, warm, soft reconstruction together with an improved abdominal contour, just like the TRAM flap. However, unlike the TRAM, the DIEP flap spares the abdominal muscles completely. The tissue is disconnected from the body completely and reattached at the chest using microsurgery. This makes the post-op recovery easier and also significantly decreases the risk of abdominal bulging and hernia.

Some women are not candidates for these abdominal tissue flaps. Other tissue reconstruction options include the sGAP (upper buttock), iGAP (lower buttock), and TUG (upper inner thigh) flap procedures. All these procedures provide natural reconstructions with additional body contouring benefits (buttock or inner thigh lift respectively).

Like the DIEP flap, the GAP and TUG flap procedures are unfortunately not offered by most plastic surgeons as they require advanced training in microsurgery and reimbursement is very low. Only about 40 surgeons in the US perform these advanced breast reconstruction procedures routinely.

About the Author:

Dr Chrysopoulo is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction, particularly DIEP flap breast reconstruction. When you initially approach a plastic surgeon you should discuss your expectations with them so that you are both on the same platform.

They will be able to guide you on what you can realistically expect after a breast implant surgery. Most surgeons will not actually tell you the exact size that you will get after the surgery. They will however focus on achieving a look based on a picture or a computer generated image. If you have a particular size of breasts in mind, carry a picture along to help in the discussion.

To select the right size for yourself, first learn about the correct size of your breasts at present. Either a bra fitting session or a measurement at the plastic surgeon's office will indicate the existing size.

Take a picture of your existing proportions to the plastic surgeon who can superimpose the proposed size over the existing size and give you an idea of what you will be likely to look like. Some surgeons are equipped with software programs that can virtually show you what your figure will look like post surgery.

You can try on false implants that you can insert into your bra and assess how you would look after the actual breast implant surgery.

If you want to enhance your cup size by two or three times, the skin around the breasts will be susceptible to stretch marks. These stretch marks will not go away on their own so you will need to get them erased through laser treatment. These laser treatments are usually carried out during the recovery stage. If you want to avoid stretch marks, try going in for a size that is just one cup size or half a cup size larger than your present size.

Once you have settled on a size be means of a software program or on the basis of false implants, consult a close family member or friend to get their opinion. They will help you decide if your expectations from the surgery are realistic and whether the augmented size will really suit your figure and improve your look.

Finally, make sure you get a good plastic surgeon for the procedure. They should be willing to advise you on various options as well as guide on safety precautions.

About the Author:

If you like to find out more about breast implant surgery, check out our site today.

Risks To Consider In Breast Implant Surgery

By Jamie Anderson

If you plan on going in for a breast implant surgery there are a few risk factors that you should be aware of so that you can take the required precautions.

In most cases, any kind of infection is rare. However, you do need to watch out for symptoms of infection such as swelling, fever or soreness. Normally infections can be treated with antibiotics. If the symptoms of infection persist you may need to get the implant removed. Once the area has healed completely, which takes about three months, you can get the implant replaced.

If you find that the implant pocket begins to bleed after surgery, do not ignore it. Let your surgeon know so that they can remove the implant, control the bleeding and treat the wound. Once the wound has healed the surgeon will insert the implants once again.

Post surgery, look out for signs of pain or hardening of the breasts. You may need to get the fibrous scar capsule in the vicinity of the implant partly or completely removed. This capsule can then be replaced and the implant can be reinserted into it. Alternately, your surgeon may want to substitute a smooth implant for one that is textured. They could also decide to replace the implant in a new capsule under the breast or below the muscle. If you face this problem again and again you may want to get rid of the implants permanently.

In some instances implants may get dislodged and move to one side or get into a position that is too high or too low. Consult with your surgeon to get these rectified surgically.

Once you have had implants for a while, some amount of calcification may occur around the implant, in the scar capsule. These are however usually quite distinct from those type of calcifications that are a sign of breast cancer.

Sometimes, implants may leak due to a weak valve or due to a number of other factors. Saline implants have a very low incidence of reported leaks.

Breast implants may block out parts of a mammogram or impact its clarity. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family you may think twice about getting implants since they may pose a problem if you need to get a mammogram done.

There have been widespread fears of breast implant surgeries being a cause of breast cancer and autoimmune disease. However, so far there is no scientific evidence to prove either of these theories.

About the Author:

If you like to find out more about breast implant surgery, check out our site today.

Breast Cancer Bracelets? Wear Pink For Awareness

By Lisa Gergets

Perhaps one of the most worrying things about breast cancer apart from the disease itself is the lack of awareness about it. A lot of women out there do not know that each of them is at great risk of getting breast cancer. It does not matter whether you are pre-menopausal or not contrary to what a lot of them believe. The headlining cause of cancer deaths in women between the ages of 20 and 59 is breast cancer according to the American Cancer Society.

Knowing now that age is insignificant when it comes to who can be struck by breast cancer, the next best thing that we can do is let all the women know about it.

Why A Pink Bracelet?

Millions and millions of women all across the globe are living with breast cancer. They do not know the symptoms or the options that today advanced medicine can offer them. If they are not oblivious to these things then it will be easier for them to be diagnosed with this cancer before it is too late.

The symptoms, the causes and the methods of treatment for breast cancer have to be taught to our beloved women. It is the only way that we can help the women get a check up and in the worst case scenario, get the breast cancer before it advances to the later stages where the options are minimal.

At the fundraisers that are all for the cause of creating breast cancer awareness, everybody wears pink. It is a message of courage for the people living with cancer. Pink is for breast cancer what red is for HIV AIDS.

Pink radiates hope and liveliness to cancer patients. Hope is perhaps the most important thing when one discovers that they have cancer. Sure, one will need the medicine but the medicine will be all in vain if the person suffering takes a defeatist approach to the situation.

The liveliness that comes from the color pink on the breast cancer bracelets gives a positive vibe to the sufferers. It lets them know that they need to have hope and not give up. Without hope, not even the most advanced mends will be able to help them battle this monster called breast cancer.

All in all, the pink bracelet is simply put a message that women all over the world can beat breast cancer if they keep their hope alive. If you want to be a part of the breast cancer awareness then you can begin by buying one of these bracelets. If you want to help even more then you could encourage your family and friends to jump into the movement by doing the same.

About the Author:

Go to Cancer Awareness Bracelets to get free information about awareness bracelets. Women are now taking the fight against breast cancer to a new and extraordinary level by simply stating the color of the bra they are wearing on their facebook statuses. It is causing some controversy, but as the old saying goes, there is no such thing as bad press.

The Washington Post reported that a message was sent to women all across the world pushing this cause. The message read "Some fun is going on . . . just write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. It will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of breast cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before people wonder why all the girls have a color in their status Haha."

As the cryptic one word statuses swept across facebook, many people went straight to Google to figure out the meaning. The reaction of many people? Anger. Groups such as "Awareness For Breast Cancer is not about the COLOR of your BRA!" and "I Kept My Bra Color To Myself - And I Still Support Breast Cancer!" have popped up all over facebook and naysayers continue to oppose this silly movement.

A silly movement is precisely what this is. Breast cancer is a serious disease that effects many women all across the world every single day. BUT-Anything that brings awareness to breast cancer is OK to me. It is a shame that so many people have turned a positive and fun movement, though "silly," into a moral fight. A woman's bra color may be a tiny bit personal, but they are not posting photographs! Come on, people!

"Many survivors were upset by the now infamous bra color postings of earlier this week. I was not, and I AM a survivor. It was stupid, but I did participate. Why? Because it got people talking about breast cancer. How did bra color relate to breast cancer? It didn't, but it got us talking. So, in a way it worked," said Marcia Hahnfeld Deitrick, a breast cancer survivor.

So why not post the color of your bra on your status? It doesn't hurt anything. It is just increasing awareness for a noble cause. So, with pride and hope, I say PINK!

About the Author:

Want to find out more about beauty and health? Being fat can cause so many woes for us, such as in our health, in our relationships, and in our outlook about our existence.

On the positive side of things, weight loss methods are accessible all around us. There are exercises, diet regimens, and diet pills that help us lose those rolls of fat. Another procedure to bring out our body curves is liposuction.

During the late 1970s, Europe was the 1st region to promote a liposuction surgery. It was an astounding success; its repute as a weight loss and body contouring procedure made it well-known all over the globe.

When correctly handled, a liposuction procedure can give enduring positive changes, with the effects positively affecting several factors in a person's life.

Liposuction primarily benefits a person's health; removing unwanted body fat can lower one's risk for diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. Moreover, with the weight loss after liposuction, we can slide into clothes that are actually flattering to our new contours.

Lastly, we may discover that others treat us better after liposuction; compliments are offered our way about how better we look. We achieve more confidence in our new-found freedom from body fat.

Medical procedures such as liposuction do come with inherent risks. In order to minimize these risks, it is advisable to acquire the service from a reputable medical practitioner and a clinic or hospital accredited to offer liposuction procedures.

About the Author:

Find info about the best and latest procedures for hair transplant. Liposuction is one of the procedures that can be utilized for removing excess fat from specific parts of the body through surgery.

In this method, extra fat from the body is sucked out by injecting a suction instrument called cannula after making a minor cut in the body. When compared against the different traditional means of weight loss, Liposuction has certain advantages as mentioned below.

The most important benefit of liposuction is that it is a quicker method of losing weight. Most of the other weight loss techniques like maintaining a regulated diet or exercising require a lot of strenuous effort for months, and it is very difficult to maintain your motivation for such a long period. On the other hand, lipo ensures immediate loss of weight following surgery and keeps you on track to staying in shape by just following a healthy and active lifestyle.

Other traditional methods like dieting can give rise to a number of complications and cause serious health risks. In contrast to methods like dieting, liposuction is not only devoid of major side effects but also is safer and more successful in reducing weight. The bruises or marks left by surgery exist merely for a short period and are not permanent.

Moreover, liposuction is particularly effective in removing fat from certain parts of the body like thighs and the chin that can't be effectively dealt with by other methods. In fact, there is no area on the body on which liposuction does not guarantee a substantial fat loss.

Undoubtedly there are a number of benefits of undergoing liposuction, but you must not lose sight of the fact that it is a surgery nonetheless. Prior to opting for the procedure, you must undergo a thorough medical check up and take advice from your doctor to ensure that it will not cause any adverse effects. You must also keep in mind that you might need a small recovery time after the surgery.

About the Author:

Discover more about acne scars and melasma and how it can enhance your life.

Shaving, Plucking, Waxing, Laser: Which Is The Best Hair Removal Method?

By James Carter

A superfluous growth of hair all over the body served quite different uses for human during prehistoric times. Hair provided protection from the elements and barrier against crawling insects keen to enter body crevices.

At this time, when humans are now living indoors, an excessive growth of hair in parts of the body such as the face, legs, armpits, and bikini line are considered unsanitary. Women suffer all the more with this taboo, as excess hair may easily become a reflection of how well they take care of themselves.

The repulsiveness of overabundant body hair has become a major issue for many women; thus, a number of hair removal products and methods are out in the market to solve this "hairy" issue.

Shaving cuts the hair off at the skin surface. It is the most convenient of all hair elimination methods and also the most short-term manner of keeping hair away.

Tweezing is another hair removal technique seen to be better at keeping hair regrowth to a minimum. Nevertheless, it is thought to be very time-consuming because one needs to pluck out the hair strand one at a time.

Waxing is another hair removal method. It involves softening up up strips coated with wax and placing them on the leg. After several minutes, the strips are pulled out.

Laser is a painless and permanent process for removing unwanted hair. It works by seeking out melanin, which is responsible for the dark pigment of the hair. Once melanin is zapped, dark hair regrowth is nearly impossible.

If considering laser hair eradication, consult a certified dermatologic doctor to learn more about the pros and risks of this technology.

About the Author:

Get info regarding the best and latest methods for acne scars. Names of ex-lovers inked on body parts can create an uncomfortable situation in case there is a new love in one's life.

As stated by a dermatologic doctor who performs tattoo removals, a large majority (more than 1/2 of the population) of those who have skin art would wish to have them removed after a while.

Tattoo removal strategies have improved through time. The painful scratching and slicing procedures were now replaced with laser technology.

Laser technology application in the form of Q-switching can warrant a painless tattoo removal. The method works by bombarding the ink pigments of the tattoo with a high concentration of light pulses until the pigments are broken down. The pigments are then absorbed in the body.

With laser tattoo removal, a number of calls to the dermatologic medical practitioner may be needed to significantly diminish the visibility of the skin art. A majority of cosmetic doctors cannot guarantee that laser tattoo removal procedures will wholly remove a tattoo. There are different factors involved, such as the kind of ink used and how old (or new) the tattoo is. Yellow and green inks are more difficult to remove compared with blue and black inks; older skin art responds better to laser tattoo removal than newer ones.

After all said and done, here's a quick reminder: Tattoo removal fee is considerably higher than that paid for getting a tattoo.

About the Author:

Get information regarding the best and latest procedures for tattoo removal. Of course, there are a host of other reasons for such procedures; be it to boost self esteem and confidence, or following accident or illness. Whatever the reason however, it is important to understand exactly what is involved.

Understanding what is involved is necessary for a host of reasons; and understanding that all enhancement surgery is a risk is amongst these. The majority of complications stem from complications through the procedure itself; anesthetic, bleeding and so forth. But there are others; including negligence.

It is important to state that professional errors are negligible across the board, but it is important to thoroughly check the credentials of the operating team and surgeon in particular. Word of mouth can go a long way in this regard of course; but you should not neglect to do your own research.

Once a decision to go with a certain clinic has been made, there will be time spent with the surgeon and possibly other team members, to go through the procedure in detail. Sessions will obviously involve nudity, the touching of the breasts, and intimate discussion. This is uncomfortable of course, so this needs to be considered.

These sessions also provide an opportunity for the patient to raise any concerns they have, question the team regards successes and failures, and go through all and any options available. A surgeon is there to provide expert guidance, not lead the discussion. If there is any doubt regards this, it is always best to walk away; there are teams that may be better for some.

The overriding issue that needs through discussion regards keeping ideals realistic. All too often, women are left disappointed having selected to go up a cup size too far; it simply does not suit them. It is also important to understand that repeat procedures to correct, amend and recover may be needed over time.

Once a decision has been made to undergo breast enhancement surgery, and once completed, there needs to be an extended period of time where the patient's will be monitored. This will be done by the clinic of course; but self examination and so forth will also be required. This should last for no less than four or six weeks as scars heal, tissue repairs, and bruising alleviates.

Increasingly, breast enhancement procedures are becoming safer, more successful and improving in delivery of service. However, there are alternatives that can be considered. All too often, women wear the wrong bra for example. Being professionally fitted can have a dramatic effect for many.

A regular bra can also be complimented with silicone enhancers; that give shape, size and definition. These often just slip in between the breast and the bra itself, or can be fully inserted to the bra lining. Many surgeons recommend using these as a precursor to surgery too; allowing for a good estimation of appropriate size required.

Of course, there are more permanent breast enhancement options available. Many have found success with herbal supplements and creams for example. Whichever is the preferred route however, it is only sensible that consultation with a doctor is sought before any period of help is taken.

About the Author:

Learn more about breast enhancement Houston. Thus, it is necessary to know these common dangers and side-effects to better prepare you on what to do.

Quite a number of patients who have undergone breast enhancement successfully breast feed. However, there is still a probability that it will affect the breast feeding process. Before moving through the surgery, consult your surgeon about this. Sometimes, breast enhancement results to a loss of sensation in the nipple and breast area. This loss of sensation, which results from broken nerve endings, may be temporary or permanent. The result would be based on the breast enhancement technique utilized by your surgeon.

Another possible danger of having breast enhancement procedures are the leaking of the breast implant materials into the surrounding breast tissue. To decrease the possibility of leaking, make sure that the implant material that will be utilized is approved by the FDA. Implants may also burst or tear over time. Normally, snaps occur when there is extreme compression or injury to the breast. It may also be due to the natural aging of the implant. Sometimes, it is mammography itself that constricts the breast implant, thereby causing it to bust.

The worst risk in breast enhancement rests in its inference of breast cancer detection. Breast enhancement implants may cover breast tumors during mammography or ultrasound. For patients with breast enhancement, additional views and special imaging are needed during breast examination. The "Eklund displacement views" helps maximize the visibility of the breast tissue to further detect tumors.

Before undergoing a breast enhancement surgery, it is recommended to discuss the possible fallouts with your chosen certified surgeon who has enough experience in breast enhancement. Ensure that the surgeon will inform you of everything you need to know about the procedure and its consequences.

About the Author:

Learn more about the best Breast Enhancement tips and other Plastic Surgery services offered by our top notch aesthetic clinics.

How To Get A Stunning Look With The Help Of Plastic Surgery

By Joseph Devine

These days, many of us are sad with certain aspects of look and hope that if might modify them. Other than this, time too has its influence on appearance, such as wrinkles, dark spots etc as age with time, individual body begins to degenerate gradually and exchange the way their look. Some would love to reverse this effect and fortunately, nowadays it is possible to do so with the assistance of cosmetic and plastic surgery.

Cosmetic and plastic surgery comprises of a number of surgical processes that changes a physical appearance and make it more pleasing than before. Aesthetic cosmetic surgery can be performed on numerous parts of our body. The outcome and risks of cosmetic surgery vary individually. Therefore, before going for it, we must understand the risks concerned during this surgery. We should consult an experienced plastic surgeon and ask for details before deciding to undergo surgery. Among the several kinds of plastic or cosmetic surgeries, eyelid surgery, nose surgery and laser surgery are becoming gradually more popular these days.

Belpharoplasty is the medical term for eyelid surgery, the fat and the extra skin and muscles of our body are removed from the upper and lower eyelids during this surgery. It is basically a corrective surgery for sagging upper eyelids and bags below the eyes. Dropping eyelids and bags below the eye make us look a lot more older and sleepy, and also may have an effect on our eyesight. However one vital thing of this surgery is that this procedure does not remove wrinkles around the eye or the dark circles beneath our eyes. Eyelid surgery can't be used to remove ethnically and racially distinct eye patterns, but can be done along with different facial processes.

Likewise, the 'nose cosmetic surgery' is the procedure to redesign your nose, is most popular among all other plastic surgery practices as mentioned above. Rhinoplasty or nose surgery can lessen or improve the size of our nose, alter the shape of the tip or the bridge, thin the span of the nostrils, or modify the angle between our nose and our upper lip. Even our birth defect or any kind of injury scar will be done wonderful as well through nose surgery.

In today's era, many people are falling prey to stretch marks. But stretch mark is not an ailment, it has become cause of concern as it stands in the way of lovely look. These days, as we all are becoming so conscious about our appearance, stretch marks tends to diminish our confidence level.

Therefore, people are resorting to laser surgery as the most effective means to treat stretch marks. There's also a plethora of treatments out there for getting rid of our stretch marks like various kinds of creams and ointments. But as we invariably wish fast treatments that may give us magical results immediately therefore, we would prefer laser surgery to treat our stretch marks rather than using any cream or ointments. Laser surgery is an expensive choice compared to other procedure including the home remedies. Though it does not guarantee success, however the success rate is definitely on an upper level. In several cases, laser surgery has been in a position to cure stretch marks effectively.

But always bear in mind, each cosmetic surgical procedure involves certain regular risks, such as in eyelid surgery infection, dry eye problems, bleeding, blindness and damage to nerves, blood vessels and muscles inside the eye are just some complications that can occur when the surgery is completed.

About the Author:

In conclusion it can be said that plastic cosmetic surgery is a medical and cosmetic specialty interested in the correction of form and function. For these surgeries, we can't depend on an unprofessional surgeon. Hence, surgery in Singapore is known as the most effective for its skilled cosmetic surgeons with its world class cosmetic surgery industry.

Geranium Smells Good and Is Good for the Body

By Brenda Reynolds

Background

If you have had the opportunity of smelling a geranium flower, you will remember a type of sweet, rosy herbaceous fragrance - a perfume onto itself. This perennial plant, which can grow up to one meter in height is commonly known as geranium and botanically identified as the genus Pelargonium. Confusingly, there is a related plant with the genus Geranium but commonly known as cranesbill. Both genera share the same family of Geraniaceae. Gardeners often refer to the Pelargonium genus as "pelargoniums" rather than geraniums, in order to avoid continual confusion. There are also morphological differences between the two genera, specifically in their flower formation.

Although geranium has been used for thousands of years going back to the Greeks and Romans, it was not until the late 17th century that this plant, indigenous to South Africa, was introduced to Europe. Soon after European introduction hybrid cultivars were created and distributed around the world. During the Victorian era, potted rose geranium was often kept in parlors in order to revive the senses. Another Victorian practice was to place geranium leaves in finger bowls at formal dining tables. Today, as in Victorian times, the most widely used Pelargonium species is Pelargonium grave lens, or rose geranium. The essential oil of rose geranium is prized by aroma therapists and cosmologists alike. P. graveolens is used in aromatherapy for its medicinal applications such as an antiseptic, as a haemostatic (stops bleeding), a tonic to regulate the nervous system, a diuretic (to treat edema) and a hormone balancer. In the perfume industry, rose geranium oil is often mixed in or even replaces the more expensive rose petal essential oil. Cosmologists also use this aromatic oil in lotion, soaps, shampoos and creams. One might presume that geranium essential oil comes from the flower alone, yet it is the leaves and branches where the oil glands are found and through a process of steam distillation the oil is extracted. In order to increase the yield of oil during this procedure, processors will often partially dry the plant.

The first geranium plants grown for the French perfume industry were planted in Algeria in 1847 and then in the 1880s extensive plantations were established in Reunion - an island in the Indian Ocean governed by France. Geranium oil is also cultivated in other parts of the world for its commercial value such as China, Egypt, Russia and Central America. The oil from China is thought to be similar to that of Reunion (known as Bourbon), while the Egyptian geranium is quite different. This is due to various soil and climatic conditions. The Bourbon variety, with its rich aroma, is considered to be the most important of the geranium oils.

Geranium May Be a Medical Treatment Option

In the last decade there has been a rise in attention given to antibiotic-resistant microbes, especially ones that cause severe infectious diseases and lead to fatality. On the first day of this new year of 2010, researchers from the National University of Ireland in Galway announced to the world that disinfectants can cause bacteria to resist antibiotics. Their study, published in the January 2010 issue of Microbiology, looked at the response of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to increasing levels of disinfectant. (P. aeruginosa is a bacterium that is a known occupant in hospitals, causing a wide range of infections in hospital patients. Standard hospital procedure is to use a surface disinfectant to prevent the spread of bacteria. If bacteria manage to survive and in turn infect patients, then antibiotics are administered.) The researchers found that P. aeruginosa adapted to increasing levels of disinfectant and even developed a resistance to an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) without being exposed to the drug directly. More specifically, the researchers revealed that the bacteria had created a more efficient means of pumping out the antimicrobial agents (such as disinfectants and antibiotics) through their cell wall and developed a mutation in their DNA to resist ciprofloxacin-type antibiotics specifically. With such findings, the researchers concluded that such bacterial adaptations could be of great harm to hospital patients and advised to reconsider how disinfectants are used in hospital settings.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria are widespread in nature, inhabiting soil, water, plants, and animals. Yet these pathogens usually do not infect healthy human individuals, only those with compromised immune systems. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), P. aeruginosa accounts for 10.1 percent of all hospital-acquired infections and can be a cause of such diseases as pneumonia, urinary tract infections (UTIs), bone and joint infections, gastrointestinal infections and bacteremia. These infections are considered complicated and possibly life threatening.

There are an increasing number of studies being published in peer-reviewed journals on the potent antimicrobial properties of essential oils, including geranium. A 2004 study (Burns 2004 Dec; 30(8): 772-7) found that geranium in combination with Citracidal (grapefruit seed extract) had great effectiveness against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and in combination with tea tree was highly effective against methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus. These researchers concluded that essential oils serve as highly useful antimicrobial agents and in treatment of MSRA infection. A more recent study (BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine 2006 Nov 30; 6:39) found that essential oils, including geranium were effective against Staphylococcus aureus, including the ubiquitous bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Concluding Thoughts

Geranium, a common plant found in many gardens, is also of historical and now medical significance. Its traditional uses are well accounted and its therapeutic actions used for centuries. The pharmacological and clinical studies of geranium essential oil are steadily increasing. It is no small concern that individuals seeking hospital care are greatly threatened by antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. Medical researchers are currently investigating alternatives to conventional microbial treatments, with great attention given to the antibacterial properties of essential oils. It is clear that modern medicine must confront its limitations and refer back to plants and how they have developed a system of defensive antimicrobial chemicals over millions of years.

About the Author:

Essential oils such as one of the relaxing floral oils and fresh cold-pressed citrus are available from Ananda Aromatherapy, along with a great many aromatherapy supplies for the home user and natural health professional.

The Way Of Plastic Surgery Be Able To Make You More Attractive

By Dennis Siluk Ed.D.

Though plastic surgery is a costly procedure, however it's gaining popularity at a fast pace these days. Hence, first ask yourself if the surgery is really necessary for you, and the end-results you expect to obtain by undertaking this surgery.

So as to bring about changes to the shape of the body, instead of making changes to their attitude, wardrobe, or lifestyle, people who can afford cosmetic surgery easily will undoubtedly select it. There are very less people who truly care to think about the risks related to cosmetic surgery, for instance: the risk of premature wrinkling, or ugly stretch marks after weight loss etc. It is also a known fact that apart from the risk of contacting infections, cosmetic surgery involves the chance of excessive blood loss.

It is sad to say, however the risks related to plastic surgery are many. Consider all these things before you choose to go ahead with a cosmetic surgery. It's always wise to find alternative non-invasive or less-invasive ways to enhance your appearance and choose them than going for surgery.

Before going for the surgery, talks to your surgeon as he can provide you a realistic picture concerning the surgery. So as to assist you decide if the surgery is worth for you, study the before-surgery and after-surgery pictures of other patients. It is a complicated surgery that needs careful looking over by an experienced doctor. Most obvious reason is for a change of looks but it's necessary to think about all the pros and cons before heading for such a serious surgery procedure. There are many positive reasons. If an individual is insecure regarding the way their breast looks then this is often an straightforward way in which the issues of insecurity will be well treated through the process of breast augmentation.

There are all kinds of ways in which the breast augmentation procedure can actually take place and the most common way of doing this is through breast implants. Such implants can be done through surgery or incision and this obviously should be done under very strictly supervised setting because one mistake can lead to numerous undesirable consequence. However there's no reason to be fearful of this type of an operation because nowadays it's become extremely common and all experienced surgeons know how to carry off the procedure of breast augmentation really well without too much complication.

It is additionally a chance that women who have already had a breast implant can require some reasonably a procedure in that they have to correct one thing that might have gone wrong. This type of corrective procedure is also part of the breast augmentation process and quite a few ladies have to travel in for this once a breast enlargement procedure has already taken place. This can happen in spite of everything where there's a state of affairs of breast rupture in which there's a high chance of the implant being ruptured.

What is extremely relevant in such cases is that patients want to follow a very strict procedure of after care which will guarantee quick recovery and healing of surgery scars. The process of surgery aftercare is extraordinarily vital for all the patients and the patient wants to be in constant touch with their doctors so that they are kept doing well and good.

About the Author:

There are cons of the process of breast augmentation as a result of none of those breast implant are designed to last forever so one needs to be prepared to go in for further surgery procedures later on. For this, it's relevant to debate everything concerning the surgery with the doctor.

5 Things You Can Do Now to Help Prevent Breast Cancer - Breast Cancer Prevention

By Veronica Carrillo

Epidemiology Even though numerous epidemiological risk factors have been fully documented, it is still evident that the formation of many specific breast cancers has not been determined. Accordingly, epidemiological research derives the manner in which it manifests itself within a particular population, but it is unable to identify the characteristics relevant to an individual. In terms of specifics, the dominant risk factors are known to be the following: Sex, Age, Childbearing, Hormones, High Fat Diet, Alcohol Consumption, Obesity, Smoking, Radiation, and Shiftwork.

Although the etiology of some 95% of breast cancer cases is still not known, that relating to the remaining 5% of new cases has been identified as being associated with aspects of hereditary. Of particular note, are those individuals who are known to be carriers of the susceptibility genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2. In such cases, there is an additional risk of some 30-40% in respect of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Which of these manifests itself is dependent upon the particular part of the protein in which the mutation occurs.

While it is a correlation between obesity and cancer, estimates show that being overweight counts for about one in seven men and astoundingly one in five women contributing to some form of cancer related deaths in the US alone.

Some women have also inherited 2 genes known as BRCA1 and BRCA2. These women are more susceptible to breast cancer. They need to get the treatment done in the initial stages itself, so they have to be on the lookout for symptoms of this cancer. So, naturally, you are on the lookout for all the possible breast cancer symptoms, which might forecast the prospective onset of this dread disease. These symptoms include an unexplained lump, which may be hard or tender, in the breast. You may possibly also find this lump underneath your armpit. You also need to look for other cancer symptoms like the skin getting red and itchy. You may find one breast swelling abnormally. That is because the cancerous cells in the body are absorbing all the blood supplied to the breast region.

In the United States, amongst native Americans and the natives of Alaska, the last few years have seen a steady decline in both the incidence and reported death rates from the disease. The Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) is a non-profit organisation in the United States established in order to facilitate the health of all women through research, education and campaigning. Founded in 1990, the SWHR highlighted the need to include women in fundamental medical research studies and the requirement for greater information concerning factors affecting women predominantly, and how their needs differ from those of men.

Exercise: For many years, research has found that exercise has been known to decrease the risks of breast cancer. Exercising only 20 minutes a day with some form of high intensity training can greatly reduce cancer and even help towards your overall health. With today's increasing number of fast food chains, and our society working 60-70 hours per week, we tend to slack on the importance of our overall health. Women especially need to be concerned with the importance of keeping your bodies in tuned with daily exercise as well as your nutrition, the proper amount of rest, and drinking at least 64oz of water daily can reduce the risks of breast cancer and help you achieve a solid foundation for living a longer life.

About the Author:

Encontrar un Trabajo Empleo es fcil si sabe dnde buscar Trabajar desde casa es fcil si sabes como

The First Part Of Our Breast Cancer Story

By Tony Ulrich

We received my wife's Breast Cancer diagnosis in March of 2009. And only seven months later I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer, also called Renal Cell Carcinoma. Over the next few weeks, I will publish "Our Breast Cancer Story" in six chapters. Please note, that everything you are about to read is written from my perspective and not my wife's.

It was the 3rd of March of 2009 when Ann called me up in my hotel room. I was out for business attending a conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. A few weeks prior to that, she just had her annual mammogram done. She was called back into the doctor's office because apparently there were some irregularities seen on the slides. Nothing really to freak out over, since it happened before and her mom and her sisters had a few biopsies done, too, and they always came back okay.

So I was completely in shock when she told me, that her doctor had just called her to tell her, that she had Breast Cancer. It was brutal. I cannot even describe what and how I felt. I felt empty and overwhelmed at the same time. This couldn't be true. Not my wife. I started crying and maybe that's what made me feel so guilty. Because I knew I had to be strong now for Ann, yet, there I was, crying my heart out.

It killed me that I couldn't be with Ann. Instead I was trapped in a hotel in North Carolina. My flight back home was scheduled two days later - but maybe there was a chance to get me on a plane heading back to Jersey the next day.

When we hung up the phone, I completely fell apart. I pray for you that you will never have to go through anything like that.

And something else happened. All the things in life I had worried about, e. g. our mortgage, the bills, the future, everything became instantaneously unimportant. There was only one thing that really mattered, and that was Ann's health. The rest was irrelevant. Period. I prayed my heart out and begged the Lord for help. He was probably surprised to hear from me after such a long time - but I felt that he heard me and that gave me some comfort.

Now it was time o figure out a way to get back to Jersey as soon as possible. I went on the Internet to check my airline's schedule and to my surprise there was a flight going out that same night at 10:00PM and so I changed my reservation accordingly. My airline called me back about five minutes later to let me know, that this flight was likely to get cancelled because of the weather situation, however, if I could make it to the airport within the next 40 minutes, they could get me on an earlier plane. I knew that this was practically impossible, but I told them that I will try. I had to pack, check out, organize a cab, get through customs, etc...and all that in 40 minutes?!

The hotel kindly offered me to give me a shuttle ride over to the Raleigh-Durham airport. Unfortunately, the driver was new in his job and from Kentucky so he didn't know the area that well. And of course, he missed the one and only exit off of the highway to the airport. The next U-turn was 15 miles away. I could literally see me plane standing there, but now there was no way to get on to it.

I don't know how it was actually possible, but I still made it. I like to believe that the Lord had mercy with me and I know that this might sound corny to some of you. But anyway, I got on the waiting plane and a few hours later I was able to hold my wife in my arms. The first battle in our personal war on cancer was won.

About the Author:

A few months after his wife Ann got diagnosed with Breast Cancer, the author of this article Tony Ulrich started his website called Our Breast Cancer Info Website. The following report includes some fascinating information about breast cancer--info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women after skin cancer. Screening mammography has played an important role in the early detection and treatment of women with this form of cancer. Breast cancer also changes as it spreads, which may make it harder to diagnose if not caught in the breast first. What it means is that, as understanding of the disease gets better, more men may be diagnosed with breast cancer per year than currently are. Breast cancer refers to a virulent growth which has shaped from cells in a breast. It customarily starts in a cells of a lobules or a ducts.

Mammograms can be uncomfortable. But they don't take very long. Mammograms offer a similar kind of sleight-of-hand trick (or sleight-of-breast, as the case may be) by actually generating the very disease they claim to find. If so many women hadn't already been harmed by mammography, the whole thing would be quite hysterical.

So far, we've uncovered some interesting facts about breast cancer. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

Women who drink alcohol have a modestly increased risk. The more you drink, the greater your risk. Women, in general, are concerned with their appearance, their weight, and their body, with recent studies suggesting 89% of women reported concerns with weight. Such premorbid concerns are often deeply ingrained and can contribute to psychological distress in women treated for breast cancer. Women frequently chave their underarms, which causes small abrasions. When applying an antiperspirant, the aluminum inside the antiperspirant, goes into the bloodstream and can cause cancerous tumors.

Breast cancer can reoccur 10, 15, 20 years after the first diagnosis, and then it can be deadly. I would never want to trivialize domestic violence, but please, do not try to trivialize this disease that can strike anyone, from very young to the elderly. Breast cancer is a malignancy of the breast, usually involving the ductal or lobular tissues (the tissues involved in milk production). A small percentage of breast cancers tend to cluster in families. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in women today. Around the world breast cancer statistics shows that after lung cancer breast cancer is the second most death-causing factor in people who develops cancer.

Women with higher breast density are at increased risk of developing breast cancer. Breast density can be assessed by mammography. Women in their 40s are 60% more likely to experience false positives from mammograms, leading to unnecessary follow-up tests and anxiety. While these risks may seem relatively minor, early screening also increases the odds that a woman will be treated for cancer that never would have sickened her - and unnecessary cancer treatment is a much more serious proposition than a biopsy. Women who unfortunately have cancer before age 40 have been and would continue to receive mammograms due to other findings or history. The disease itself comes in so many forms that certainly there is not one perfect way to treat it or cure it.

What does breast cancer look like?
